Physicalflashpacking’s Checklist to go Flashpacking

Several years ago, we already discussed the topic „preparation of a flashpacking adventure“, all starts off with the plan of visiting one or several country(ies). Travel routes can be determined on your own wish, we have never had problems to find any transportation option in any country to get from place A to place B. Sometimes the options get a bit pricy. If you want to get the most valuable experience, it is helpful to stick to a route, proposed in travel guides like Stefan Loose and Lonely Planet. Physicalflashpacking mostly uses Loose travel guides and definitely recommends them.

Many other Instagramer, Youtuber, Travelblogger (most of them complete non professionals in traveling industry) will tell you their ultimative tips and tricks, how you have to book the best flight combination or how you have to book the most valuable hotels, hostels, guesthouses or homestays. Each person have to estimate, if these tips and tricks are useable for themselves, for us most of them simply do not work.

In case of the best flight combination, we are bound to school and public holidays. Hence we are simple not able to provide tips and tricks in this topics. We recommend Stefan and Dominik of globaltraveler.de, who have a very decent website with lots of helpful informations and deals, also their flight reports are fun to watch.

Hotel booking is some kind of science mainly statistics but also you must have a non-neglectable amount of gut instinct. We mostly use booking.com for booking hotels, bungalows or guesthouses, but always compare prices on trivago.de. All over the internet accommodation reviews have to be handled with care. In Germany holidaycheck.de is a good information source, TripAdvisor.com is also useable but has a growing problem with typical post-facts-century people. In our opinion, a good mix between nice guesthouse, small simple bungalows but also highly recommended five stars luxury products is the best combination for the best flashpacking adventures.

Everyone of you must decide by yourself how many transport or accommodations have to be pre-booked. The season in which you travel a country / a region is the key issue you have to ask yourself. For example during high season in Bali speed boats to the islands around can be fully booked, but you can pre-book them from all over the world. The same issue can be observed in case of highly recommended and valuable accommodation during Bali’s high season.

Separate packing lists for carry-on- and check-in-luggage are helpful but not necessary.

We follow the following lists:

We advice you:

  • For all medical advices follow your national health departments advices or state department.
